Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bowl first.
One needs to go back in time to watch the match again and believe that actually happened. One of the craziest T20 match ever played, Lahore and Peshawar played out a low scoring thriller.
While batting first, Lahore didn’t started off very well. They lost 3 wickets in their first 2 overs. 4th wicket in 4th over and 5th wicket in their 7th over – they were left at 52/5 after 7 overs. After that, things happened quickly, and they lost their remaining 5 wickets for just 7 runs and were bowled out for just 59 – second lowest T20 score in the history.
All the six bowlers from Peshawar side contributed with Hasan Ali taking the most wickets, 3 and Chris Jordan took 2.
Then begins the chase. What seemed a pretty easy and a piece of cake, it turned out to be one of the most toughest one. Early wickets rocked Zalmi and they lost 2 wickets for 5 runs in first 3 overs. They lost their 3rd wicket at the score of just 26. After that Morgan tried to steady the ship along-with Shahid Afridi. Morgan eventually managed to score 23, the highest for his team, but before him, Afridi was already out for 13, which he scored with the help of a six and a four.
Peshawar Zalmi kept crawling their way towards the total as they were 47/4 after 11 overs. But later, Yasir Shah came back in attack as he took 3 quick wickets in his last 2 overs and returned the brilliant match figures of 4-0-7-4.
After all the drama, Peshawar Zalmi was finally able to complete a small yet one of the most toughest chase on the last ball of 17th over, as Wahab Riaz hit the winning runs.
Peshawar Zalmi won by 3 wickets – with 18 balls remaining and went top of the table.
