In a draft for the first edition of South Africa’s T20 Global League held in Cape Town, a total of nine cricketers from Pakistan were picked by the franchises participating.

Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Yasir Shah, Anwar Ali, Imad Wasim and Junaid Khan are the names who were picked to star in the inaugural edition of the T20 GL.

Durban Qalandars bought Fakhar Zaman for US$ 65,000 and veteran batsman Mohammed Hafeez for US$ 75,000. While Benoni Zalmi got fast bowler Wahab Riaz for US$ 115,000, Umar Akmal for US$ 100,000 and Mohammad Nawaz for US$ 65,000.

All-rounder and currently the number one ranked T20 bowler Imad Wasim was picked to represent Stellenbosch Monarchs, while all-rounder Anwar Ali and pacer Junaid Khan were picked by Nelson Mandela Bay Stars.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah also secured a place in the league after he was picked by Joburg Giants.
