February 9th was the opening night of the Pakistan Super League’s second edition and the first match was held between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in Dubai. Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and put Peshawar Zalmi in to the batting.
Peshawar Zalmi while batting while batting first managed to score a huge total of 190, thanks to an amazing knock by Kamran Akmal – who scored 88 and a great hand from Dawid Malan – who managed 43. From United’s side, Shane Watson was pick of the bowlers as he took 4 wickets for 44, while Mohammad Sami contributed with a great spell of 2/16 off his 4 overs.
While chasing Islamabad started off well. As Dwayne Smith, the opener made 55, while Brad Haddin managed 73 and top scored for United. In a rain hit chase, match was reduced to 18 overs with the target of 173, which Islamabad managed to chase with 2 balls remaining.
Islamabad United won by 7 wickets – with 2 balls remaining.
